Dry Needling
Myofascial Dry Needling is a relatively new, exciting and highly effective form of therapy for the treatment of a multitude of muscular conditions.
Very fine sterile disposable filament needles are inserted into Trigger Points which stimulate the points, desensitising and deactivating them and the associated referred pain resulting in pain relief, relaxed muscle tissue and healing. It’s common to feel a tingling sensation or dull ache when the needles are initially applied. A twitch/spasm response can then follow which is rarely painful but can be uncomfortable. Clients often report an immediate improvement of their symptoms following the twitch/spasm response and have also described a pleasant heaviness in the limbs or a feeling of relaxation during the treatment. |
How does it work
|
Dry Needling targets Trigger Points which are direct and palpable muscular sources of pain, rather than traditional “meridians” accessed via Acupuncture (Traditional Chinese Medicine). This effective evidence based technique is based on neuro-anatomy and modern scientific study of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems and has been proven to be consistently successful for the treatment of muscular pain and more.
