Remedial Massage
The core service we offer at AchesAway is Remedial Massage.
Remedial massage has long been misunderstood by the general public, with many people still believing it to simply be a deep rub. Remedial massage therapy is a treatment oriented therapy which deals with the assessment and treatment of injuries, musculo-skeletal conditions and soft tissue dysfunctions that cause pain or restrict movement. It is the assessment component of Remedial Massage that makes this treatment style different from all other massage modalities. Remedial Massage involves the treatment of the muscles, fascia (connective tissue), ligaments and tendons which are prone to overuse, overloading, shortening or lengthening and this can produce all kinds of aches, pains and injuries. According to our massage association, the definition of a remedial massage treatment is: “Remedial massage is the assessment and treatment of dysfunction, supported by a treatment plan and documented treatment notes.” |
Our Approach
|
At AchesAway, we offer a remedial massage service true to the definition. Our therapist will take the extra time and care to listen to you. We will identify the dysfunction that you have come to have addressed and use verbal & physical functional assessment to formulate a treatment plan tailored to your individual requirements. We use osteopathic based physical testing, observation and palpation to perform an assessment and then form a “working diagnosis”. This enables us to treat the symptoms and most importantly, the source of the pain.
Our therapist will explain why specific treatment techniques are recommended and how they will assist, and will recommend a course of treatments with a measured outcome. |
